On June 19, 2026, the Sirdaryo regional territorial department of the State Assets Management Agency held a legal awareness hour dedicated to the fight against corruption, in the city of Guliston. The session was chaired by the head of the department, A.Babadjanov. The department's chief legal counsel, B.Donaboev, delivered an extensive presentation on the content and essence of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Combating Corruption" (No. ЎРҚ-419, dated January 3, 2017). The presentation covered the historical roots of the concept of corruption as well as its main forms — everyday corruption, corruption in business relations, and corruption among senior government officials. Particular attention was given to the underlying causes of corruption, such as low public-sector wages, ineffective regulation of the market economy, and economic instability. Using concrete examples, the speaker illustrated the damage corruption inflicts on the state budget, the business environment, investment attractiveness, and societal moral values. Methods of combating corruption, including internal and external oversight mechanisms, were explained in detail. The event concluded with a Q&A session and practical recommendations for preventing corrupt practices.
