The main theses of the article published in the Bloomberg publication on the privatization of Mobiuz:

Uzbekistan plans to raise $300 million by selling a mobile operator.

A comprehensive privatization program for this year, approved by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has been launched. The program plans to sell stakes in 29 large companies, ranging from telecommunications to energy. This process aims to reduce state participation and attract foreign investment.

The Mobiuz sale process was announced in June this year, and the deadline for submitting expressions of interest (EoI) is August 1, 2025. Rothschild & Co. has been involved in this transaction as a strategic and financial advisor.

Mobiuz is the fourth largest mobile operator in the country and its value may be higher due to the state's support for its merger with other local operators. Initial interest is said to have been expressed by investors from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan and Europe.

At the end of last year, Uzbekistan had 35.6 million mobile subscribers, of which Mobiuz had a 20.9% market share, according to BMI (a division of Fitch Solutions).

Mobiuz reported net revenue of $164 million and EBITDA of $41 million in 2024.
